If you have these signs and symptoms you could be experiencing foundation failure. Call USS of Illinois, Inc to have the foundation properly evaluated before it is too late.

USS of Illinois has the solution for you. Most repairs for sinking or settling foundations are completed by structurally underpinning the building using:

  • RESISTANCE/PRESSURE PIERS HYDRAULICALLY DRIVEN TO LOAD BEARING STRATUM.

  • HELICAL PIERS/ ANCHORS INSTALLED TO PROPER TORQUE IN THE SOIL TO SUPPORT THE BUILDING.

RESISTANCE UNDERPINNING PIERS INSTALLATION PROCEDURE.

  1. Expose foundation wall by excavating by small residential backhoe or hand digging. (PHOTO)
  2. All excavated soil placed on plywood to guard against permanent landscape damage.
  3. Preparation of footing to properly set foundation bracket. (PHOTO)
  4. Attaching drive stand, hydraulic cylinder and first pier section with friction reducing collar.(PHOTO)
  5. Install galvanized pier sections using the weight of the structure to as counterforce to stabilize the foundation.
  6. Pier sections are advanced into the soil hydraulically to proper Load Bearing Stratum or proper soil pressure resistance.
  7. In our Chicagoland area through 25 years of installing piers we at USS expect a 40-60 drive depth.
  8. Once foundation is stabilized either pin the building off and secure it in place permanently.
  9. If we are attempting a lift of the building, hydraulic jacks are installed and at each pier and lifted through one manifold. After lifting we pin the building off preventing any further movement. (PHOTO OF HYDRAULIC JACKS).
  10. Backfill and compact all excavated soil.
  11. Clean yard and work zone.
  12. Record all pier depths, pressure driven to and foundation elevations.
